On June 15- 17, the U.S. Consulate in Recife participated in the International Tourism Fair in Recife. More than 7,000 people, including tourism agents, students, and the general public, visited the fair and learned about visas, tourist destinations, and study opportunities in the U.S. . At the Consulate's booth, visitors were able to speak with Vice Consuls and representatives from Education USA.

U.S. Consul Usha Pitts opened the fair with other governmental officials and spoke about the program Route 66, which will bring more diplomats to the interior of Pernambuco state, as well as other states in the Northeast of Brazil.

Visitors packed the auditorium of the fair to attend the two lectures about visas promoted by the Consulate. “Brazilians love to travel and it was a great opportunity to promote tourism destinations and give visa information,” said Consular Chief Lesley Hayden.
